Harrison Ford stars in this crime thriller directed by Peter Weir. During a trip to Philadelphia with his widowed mother Rachel (Kelly McGillis), young Amish boy Samuel (Lukas Haas) witnesses the murder of an undercover police officer. Detective John Book (Ford) is assigned to investigate and is shocked when Samuel identifies Lieutenant James McFee (Danny Glover) as the killer. It soon becomes apparent that McFee is not the only corrupt officer on the force and Book vows to protect Samuel and Rachel. He travels to their small farming community and soon finds himself falling in love with Rachel despite their very different lives. However, McFee and his friends are determined to find them and eliminate the witness to their crime...
