Walter Matthau and Robert Shaw star in this crime thriller directed by Joseph Sargent. Four gunmen board a New York City subway train and take the passengers and conductor hostage. As Lieutenant Garber (Matthau) enters into negotiations with Mr. Blue (Shaw), one of the hijackers, will he be able to foil their plans and save the hostages?
