Oliver Reed and Diana Rigg star in this black comedy adventure directed by Basil Dearden. In 1908, journalist Sonia Winter (Rigg) discovers the existence of the Assassination Bureau, an organisation which once killed for moral reasons but has recently begun targeting people for financial gain instead. Hoping to shut it down, she secures enough money from her employer, Lord Bostwick (Telly Savalas), to arrange the killing of Ivan Dragomiloff (Reed), the chairman of the Bureau. However, Dragomiloff is eager to turn the situation to his advantage and purge the Bureau of all those who have forgotten its true purpose. After he challenges his colleagues to kill him or be killed themselves, he sets off on a journey across Europe with Sonia - and his colleagues - in pursuit. The cast also includes Curd Jürgens, Philippe Noiret and Warren Mitchell.
