Conceived as a parody of the slasher genre, the film was shot as a surprisingly effective straightforward horror with dark comic undertones. Slumber Party Massacre II: Years later, survivor Courtney (Crystal Bernard) experiences terrifying premonitions during another girls' getaway, as the nightmare comes back in an even more outrageous sequel that leans into its campy, rock 'n' roll sensibility. Together they represent the first horror series written and directed exclusively by women.
