A decade after the original film shocked audiences, Tobe Hooper returns with a gleefully deranged sequel that abandons the minimalist dread of the first film for full-throttle carnage and savage black comedy. When local radio DJ Stretch inadvertently records the brutal murder of two college students by the cannibalistic Sawyer family, she becomes their next target. Meanwhile, Vietnam veteran Lieutenant Lefty Enright — haunted by the murder of his nephew Franklin in the original massacre — has spent years hunting the Sawyers and sees Stretch as his best chance to lure them into the open. Relocating the action to a cavernous amusement park beneath Dallas, the film is a deliberately excessive vision from one of horror's most inventive directors.
