Francis Ford Coppola's The Outsiders (1983), based on S.E. Hinton's celebrated young-adult novel, is set in 1960s Tulsa, Oklahoma, where rival teen gangs — the working-class Greasers and the affluent Socs — clash with tragic consequences. When Ponyboy Curtis (C. Thomas Howell) and his friend Johnny (Ralph Macchio) become fugitives after a violent confrontation, they are sheltered by fellow Greaser Dallas Winston (Matt Dillon), setting in motion events that will change all of them. The Complete Novel version, Coppola's preferred cut with 22 minutes of additional footage and new music, was created in 2005 to restore scenes from the source novel and is presented alongside the original theatrical version in this 5-disc 4K Collector's Edition from StudioCanal, featuring a new restoration overseen and approved by Coppola.
