James Wan's The Conjuring (2013) launched one of the most commercially successful horror franchises in cinema history, grossing over $319 million worldwide and spawning a universe of sequels collectively generating more than $2.2 billion at the global box office. Based on the casework of real-life demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga), the film depicts the Perron family haunting in a Rhode Island farmhouse in 1971. Wan constructs it with methodical formalism: horror derived from atmosphere, dread and suggestion rather than explicit violence. The performances give the film its unusual emotional texture — Wilson and Farmiga play the Warrens as a deeply devout couple whose faith is the lens through which they process what they encounter; Lili Taylor as Carolyn Perron delivers the film's most harrowing work, domestic exhaustion gradually darkening into something far more terrifying. Making its 4K UHD debut in this Warner Bros. Ultimate Collector's Edition, presented in a Steelbook within a rigid slipcase with soft-touch finish. Physical extras include an A3 double-sided theatrical poster, 5 double-sided character art cards, 6 double-sided behind-the-scenes cards, a 'Hide-and-Clap' game, a sticker, and an 8-page booklet.
